Westshore Seniors Collaborative Website Project

Center for Aging in the Digital World proposed the idea of multiple communities collaborating in the digital world back in 2015.

It served as the Fiscal Agent and Project Manager for the website launched in December 2017 that brought together senior centers from the following eight communities: Avon, Bay Village, Fairview Park, Lakewood, North Olmsted, North Ridgevillle, Rocky River, and Westlake in the digital world.

July 2015: Tak was invited to present at “Because I’m HAPPY” Westshore senior center directors’ retreat. His presentation was about using digital world tools successfully. At the end of the presentation, he proposed his vision of taking their senior center collaboration that was already happening in the real world into the digital world, offering a path to innovative service delivery options for the future.

February 2016: Cuyahoga County Division of Senior and Adult Services (DSAS) launches the Senior Center Innovation Grant. The Westshore Seniors collaborative decided to submit.

March 2016: Submitted the proposal/bid to the Senior Center Innovation Grant.

May 2016: Attended the Senior Center Knowledge Forum where the Senior Center Innovation Grant winners were announced. The Westshore Seniors Collaborative’s submission was not selected.

September 2016: DSAS, together with The McGregor Foundation, hosted the Senior Center Innovation Forum. This event provided a second chance to pitch innovative proposals that were not chosen for the Senior Center Innovation Grant. Tak presented the Westshore Seniors collaborative website project proposal at the event.

January 2017: Westshore Seniors collaborative submitted the Letter of Intent to Community West Foundation.

February 2017: Community West Foundation awarded funds for the collaborative website project.

June 2017: Project kicked-off.

December 2017: Project completed and Westshore Seniors collaborative website launched on December 28, 2017.

March 2018: Tak, along with three other senior center directors, traveled to San Francisco, CA to present at the Aging in America national conference for the American Society on Aging. The presentation was entitled “Building a Hybrid Service Delivery Model for a Collaborative of Senior Centers.”

Tak managed the program until April 2018 and transferred the entire program, including day-to-day website management, to the eight senior centers.
