About Us

Our Story

In 2011, the husband and wife team of Tak and Mely Sato co-founded their information technology consultancy, geek with a heart. With almost 30 years of hands-on and managerial experience as an IT professional, Tak knew the value of a helping hand in the often intimidating world of technology. This approach to guiding individuals through the selection and use of appropriate technology became the heart of their service – Hand-holding You in the Digital WorldSM.

As they got to know their clients and the Westshore area communities, however, they began to see that many seniors were being left behind by the technology that was meant to make life easier. Through their deep commitment to the lives and well-being of our seniors, they had found their next calling.

So, in 2015, with the aim of combating digital illiteracy and helping seniors realize the advantages of the digital life they deserve, Tak and Mely established a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called the Center for Aging in the Digital World.

Tak is the Founder of Center for Aging in the Digital World; Mely is the Executive director. Tak developed the “Satosan Method,” a customized curriculum that has proven its efficacy through the pilots of the Discover Digital Literacy! program which keeps the participants engaged throughout the program and build good foundationary(sic) skills in digital literacy.
